Stephen A. Murphy
Steve was born and raised in New Jersey. Even though there’s
several toxic waste plants in his state, he takes great pride
in NJ, letting anyone and everyone know that his state has more
miniature golf courses, more diners, and more malls per square
mile than any other state in the union.
Steve, the youngest of four children, was always the rebel of
the family. He never worked very hard in high school, just doing
enough to scrape by, talking himself out of trouble at every turn.
When deciding where to go to college, he knew he needed a change
of scenery if he was ever going to become something more. He visited
LMU and instantly fell in love with the people and the atmosphere.
Once at LMU, Steve knew he needed to get involved to be productive.
Sports had always been his saving grace in high school. Despite
his record setting career in high school athletics, he knew he
wasn’t about to hop on to a Division-I team here at LMU.
Instead, he joined the Loyolan to write about sports. He eventually
fell in love with writing and journalism in general and by the
end of his sophomore year he had landed the top job at the newspaper
(editor in chief).
More than even his love of writing, however, was his love of making
a difference. His weekly column “Murphy’s Law”
often questioned and critiqued less popular aspects of this university.
While some were angered, the columns always made people look at
things with a new perspective. After careful consideration, Steve
decided to run for president because he knew he was the right
guy to fix our school government. He has fought for the student
body for three years, and he will continue to do so whether elected
president or not. But, if he is elected, you can be sure that
ASLMU will be transformed into an effective, successful, and popular
student government for all students.

Seranda E. Bray
Seranda
was born on July 7, 1986 and grew up in nearby Gardena, California.
Although she’s proud to be a California girl, her mom is
from Texas so she has a little Longhorn flavor in her too.
She loved
animals growing up and used to want to be a vet. Her family still
has a pet turtle that they found on the side of the road thirty
years ago. It’s surprising Seranda still cares so much for
animals after the incident and all. She had a pet iguana named
Gizmo. ‘Had’ being the key word. Gizmo leapt off the
top of the TV (his favorite resting spot) to his death. The suicide
scarred her, but she battled on. She likes cheetahs, too. A lot.
Seranda wasn’t
positive where she wanted to go to college, but after talking
to Charles Mason and visiting the campus, she knew LMU would become
her home. Mason, assistant director of admissions, convinced Seranda
that the bluff was right for her, and she hasn’t looked
back since. She has been involved in many activities in her time
at LMU, and just joined Delta Zeta this semester. She said she
couldn’t be more excited to be a DZ.
Seranda
likes people. That may sound simple, but it’s actually pretty
inspiring. Her contagious attitude allows people to feel better
about themselves. She’s warm and friendly and will bring
an outlook to ASLMU that it needs. |
